A tip for all those new to running.

Was out on my first run in a while this morning and it got me thinking about those of you who wanting/trying to start to run. Keep in mind that the first 15-20 minutes is where you tend to feel a bit out of rhythym and flow....however if you keep going through until your body comfortably switches over to using fats for energy and reaching that 'steady state' you will start to feel really good and it all comes together. Initially running really is a mental game. Map out a small distance and run the entire way, but do it at a slow pace. Before focusing on time, distance etc, I just plan out a run and make sure I dont walk at all!! I tell myself NO MATTER how slow I go I WILL NOT break the run ;-) It works so well. Then as you get better, start to increase the distance or speed. Start with small distances and make sure you have enough days recovery in between.
